DETAILS COMING SOON
With the shortage of teachers, including substitute teachers, it can be difficult to release teachers for an inservice training during the school day. Short trainings via distance learning after school can be a solution to this problem. Teachers can go to a Distance Learning Classroom in or near their school, bring a laptop, and have an interactive hands-on training experience. Janet will make a CD of files and handouts available at each Distance Learning Classroom, so teachers can easily follow along during the training.
During her two years of teaching via distance learning, Janet and her students have found that participants quickly learn to use software programs like AppleWorks or Microsoft Office, and personal bonds form between participants and the trainer. Teachers have requested more offerings using this model.
All of the above workshops and presentations can easily be customized to meet your staff's needs. For example, you can modify the modules that are covered, or adjust the depth of coverage of particular topics. You can choose to focus on a particular version of the software your teachers use (for example, AppleWorks 4.0, 5.0, or 6.0, or Microsoft Office 97, 98, 2000, 2001, XP, X, 2003, or 2004). You can even cover more than one software program in a two-day workshop. Customizing is very much encouraged.

"Janet has conducted face-to-face workshop for our area teachers for two years, and recently has done Distance Learning workshops over the Iowa Communications Network. Our feedback is very positive. She'll do more interactive training sessions next year. As a former teacher, she has an excellent understanding of utilizing technology in the classroom." |

"Our staff attended a Janet Caughlin training session on Microsoft Word. They came away excited about the program, its capabilities, and the ways they could use Word in their classrooms. They announced that they would like to attend more training sessions with Janet. I haven't seen our staff so excited about a program or a trainer in years. Janet made the session fun while dynamically presenting Word to our teachers." |
